So, who am I?

I am Jeff Goulding and I am the author of a number of books, packed full of tales about Merseyside football. My first, an affectionate history of Liverpool Football Club, entitled Red Odyssey: Liverpool FC 1892–2017, celebrates the 125th anniversary of the club with the telling of 125 stories from its history. My second is a novel, Stanley Park Story: Life, Love and the Merseyside Derby, which weaves together fact, personal experience and fiction to tell the story of the Merseyside derby through the eyes of three generations of Reds and Blues.

Both books have received critical acclaim and I have been overwhelmed by the responses of ordinary supporters, who have found pleasure in them. In September 2019, my third book entitled We Conquered all of Europe: Red Odyssey II will be released. It is a follow up to Red Odyssey and celebrates the club’s sixth European Cup win, with a series of individual tales charting the Klopp era.

I have written for various publications and websites and am now a regular feature writer for This is Anfield. Having stood on the Spion Kop for over 40 years, I hope to bring you some of the irreverence, wit and passion of football’s most ardent supporters.

On these pages I intend to bring to life the history of our club, with stories, images, sounds and video. I will chronicle our great players and managers, their lives and achievements. And, I will tell the story of our club and city through fact and fiction, ensuring always that the voice of the people runs through every tale like a golden thread.
